What is a Solar Eclipse?
A solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, blocking some or all of the Sun’s light. There are two main types: total solar eclipses, where the Sun is completely covered, and partial solar eclipses, where only part of the Sun is obscured. Total eclipses are rare and create a brief period of darkness in their path. Looking at the Sun during an eclipse without proper eye protection can be harmful.
